Lude Generation

has anyone ever had difficulty removing them? ive been trying but the bolt has just started to round so ive stopped, thinking that the socket isnt quite a good fit, seems a smidge loose.

anyone know the exact socket size to use? *edit i think its a 17mm 12pt. ive tried, ill double check

how about trying a little heat?

What are you using to try to undo it? If they've not come off before, they'll be on quite solid, and possibly with some loctite.

They'll probably need more of a good shock to loosen them off, rather than just pure leverage from a big bar.

You need a 12 point socket to get them off. Rather than the usual 6 point socket. They shouldn't be that tight, something like 80 lb/ft.

When I did mine I carnt remember having any noticeable struggle dude. They were tight but nothing to worry about.

yes, undo it. ill use some shock and unlock

yeh, ive been using a 12 point socket, pretty sure a 17mm but it still seemed loose, but the only fit in my socket set.
Was more just in case its an odd sized socket required really.

i was using a 17mm 12pt. socket with a breaker bar...no movement

I'd be careful with heat and it might not work as the bit you want to heat is the end of the crank shaft. And the only way to see it is though the hole where the output shaft is. You's be burning off grease and heating rubber seals.

if your at the point of removing the flywheel i would replace the rear main seal anyway.

I don't mean heat it up to the point it gets to RED HOT, i mean enough to warm it up so its hot to the touch. Remember the engine itself gets hot so a little bit of heat shouldn't be an issue.

I used an electric impact gun to remove my bolts from the h23a had no issues. Was a little tight but it did come off.

Breaker bar should work just have someone hold the crank bolt with another bar while trying to brake the flywheel bolts loose.
