No VTEC and car "splutters" and cuts out violently over 4k

Wills lude having problems again ...
As titled, but the cut out is just of power like the 112 mph limit.
He has checked the oil and coolant level, and we cleaned the VTEC solenoid a few months ago so I don't think it's that.
Could be the timing? Dizzy maybe? Even though that was swapped only a few months ago too.
I suspect it may even be the tps playing up, I will check Sunday this weekend. I'll also check spark plugs.
Any other suggestions welcome. Thank you!

My previous lude did this a few times and then stopped doing it. I put it down to dodgy fuel, as after it happened I stuck v power in every time rather than every other time and it didn't do it again.

More likely to be the dizzy again than any of the other things you've suggested.
When does his vtec normally cut in? As you say it's doing it over 4k revs, but obviously vtec normally doesn't kick in until 5.2k ish.
And when you say it's cutting out, is the engine stopping completely or are the revs just dropping (like a rev limiter)? And if cutting out completely is it automatically restarting?
Also I'm beginning to think this Will fella is a figment of your imagination

Does his rev meter jump about? When my dizzy bolts vibrated themselves loose my revs where all over the place and my car would splutter and not engage vtec.

Fuel pump on its way out? Not a common fault but thinking outside the box

I'll ask him about the fuel now..

the normal 5.2, we haven't fitted his spoon copy chip yet. It cuts power/revs like when you hit the 112mph JDM limiter, engine does not cut out altogether.
If he is a figment of my imagination, then that's fine with me as I'll have a free lude then

don't think so but I'll check

could be, I have my old one as a spare so it could be swapped to eliminate that option

This problem is still apparent. took it to Bri last night and we checked the timing and it was pretty much bob on.
still got 2 error codes appearing when the problem happens, 7 and 20 which is TPS and ELD.
i swapped the TPS for a spare a few days ago so i dont think its that at fault. does the TPS need to be adjusted sometimes? once you place it on the TB, when doing up the bolts there is room for adjustment up or down....

?
EDIT - forgot to add, now ive been in Will's car when it happens, the splutter and cut out are the same thing, its just a splutter and cuts the power (
doesnt stall the car) briefly for a second more than anything.
it also now seems to vtec ok

Im adding another dimension to this Drax - could be the ignition switch that's not making contact properly?

i doubt it mate, ignition switch problems are usually the engine cutting out or not starting at all, cheers for the input though
