Just a quick question:
5th gen 62mm tb onto a 4th gen im is it a straight swap
just looking for someone to confirm this and offer any advice/feedback on this mild modification-(will also fit with type S air intake already on the car.)
Ive got both 4th gen and 5th gen tb here side by side and it looks good to my eye
plan is to swap it over in one go fitv, tps and all - will replace the gasket with a 62mm thermal one

They should be a straight swap. Only perhaps the map sensor different i think. Slightly.

If i remember correctly, the only difference is about the MAP sensor, located onto the throttle body for the 5th gen and on the firewall on the 4th gen.
I have done nearly the same modification and to install that, i've made a piece of metal with a tube, bolted on the throttle body, to connect the little pipe going to the MAP sensor...
Hope this will help you! But still if i remember correctly, you may also use the 5th gen MAP sensor, just have to reroute the original wiring of the 4th gen sensor ( and maybe replace the connector). The scalar of these two sensors are the same if i'm not wrong, but it may Worth to test it

Thanks for the replies - i had forgotten about the map sensor location being on the tb on the 5th gen intake and on the firewall for the 4th gen.
Yes i need a fitting/pipe for the Map sensor - im going to keep the 4the gen sensor.
Ive found a off the shelf 90 degree adaptor @ £1.25 so going to give that a go - if not then i will have to fab something up

Just leave the 5th gen MAP sensor as it is, you dont need to do anything to it. Using the existing MAP sensor on the firewall works fine

there is no map sensor on the 5th gen TB - its been removed but i would still need to take it off as there is a vaccum tube that runs from the 4th gen tb to the 4th gen map sensor on the firewall so i need to take a feed from the 5th gen tb where the map sensor was. i will be running this with a stock P13 ecu with spoon v2 chip.
i think ive confused you as you might be thinking about the atr mani&tb that ive converted to fit a 4th gen - to put that on i would need a P28/P72 ecu and a tune. unless you mean you can take a feed for the 4th gen map sensor direct from the 5th gen map sensor if it was still in place

For me , the easier way is to install a pipe instead of the MAP sensor

, especially if you have found a 90° adaptor

ive got the 62mm TB ready(ish)
fitted a B series ThermaTec gasket (Pt no.TB126) which looks ok
the connector for the MAP sensor is fitted as well but im not so sure how durable it will be - i might have to look at getting something more solid made up
might just fit it and see how it goes.

Why are you using the location of the 5th gen Map sensor?
