Old question,,,new thoughts

HI Guys, Ive asked similar question in the past but its now looking like a realistic option to upgrade the engine in my 2lt 5th gen. The issue is I can have a Golf R as my daily which is nice and has 300BHP but I love my lude and would like to swap the 2ltr out but would like a little more power ie 250BHP if possible. How do I acheive this while getting swap done and trying to maximise the reliability . Brakes have all been upgraded now all the way round and structural stuff all completed so any thoughts or advice would be great.
Cheers
Craig

If youve got a bit of cash to spend and definately want 250+bhp then id speak to
@Merlin and see if he will sell you his race engine (260-275bhp depending on tune). Its sitting on a pallet waiting to go in a lude

There has been loads done to that engine and around £12k spent on it.
It belonged to Dino previously.
@Dino or
@Merlin would be best placed to give you detailed info.

An a7 with decent breathing and a proper tune (Hondata S300) will give you 240+bhp 170+lbft torque.

Like Nafe and Benny say, a good condition red top engine with some mods should see you up to the 240-250 bracket as it has been dpone before. IMO you'll need a decent diff to get the best from it. Its not the bhp that is the best thing from a built engine its the extra torque. My built engine makes more torque at 3k rpm than my H22a8 does at peak.
