5th Gen Auto Box - A problem?

New to Preludes and have driven both manual and auto.
Notice a strong bias by some that only a manual will do!
Is this a performance issue or is the Auto box seen as a weak link??
My first Prelude had an auto box with selection problems which turned out to be an electrical gremlin. It worked fine after that.( I had some good advice here!)
Spoke to and auto box expert a while ago who told me that Honda Prelude auto boxes were well built but the gearbox oil needed to be changed more frequently than stated to maintain life!
Love to hear members views!

I have changed the oil a couple of times and check know and then that it's luvly and red
Not as much power going thru it of course.

I've got a 2.2 5th gen auto on 125K. Was a bit clunky when I first got it but gave it a flush (drain it, run it for a few miles, repeat a couple of times) and that made a big difference. The general advice seems to be to use genuine Honda ATF, 50 quid for 4 litres but cheaper than the alternative

The way I see it is if the gearbox decides to pack up can always have a go at a manual conversion.

Im one of the people who will only go for a manual but thats purely for my driving preference no other reason

Mine was an auto when I bought it, I quickly converted it to manual after the auto box nearly killed me by deciding to shift gear midway round a long sweeping 70mph bend. Not wanting to slate autos but it was 10 times the car afterwards......

There are allot of spelling errors on this thread.
You spelt "fail" wrong. "Auto" is the wrong way to spell it.

Hi Ratty,
Cant see the word "fail" anywhere? As for Auto, what's the right word?
Love you Ratty really! Are you coming to the "Up North" get together?

You say "quickly" converted. I'm considering this for the future. Is it a difficult job?
