Yes you need one, It help works out air/fuel ratio.

Well not really if it is only a track car.
If you check default settings for when does closed loop work (hondata, neptune or ectune) you will se that it is rather strict set of conditions (idling and cruising basically) and under WOT or even light acceleration, it completely ignores lambda and trim. Am I missing something?

If you are using a stock ECU the O2 sensor will be required. A tunable ECU setup may get away from the O2 sensor but I don't see the point of it for our engines.
My race engine and Hondata with O2 was tuned perfectly. My current stock engine and stock ECU + 02 and I overfuel like a MOFO (3" exhaust

I also have O2 enabled, to be correct I have my wideband connected all the time and it is used instead of stock O2 sensor, but still it doesn't do anything than show me is everything ok while WOT. It only contributes to something in light driving conditions.
You are correct about stock ECU.

I cannot possibly see why you wouldn't want an o2 sensor.
It's like going to have sex with a floppy gentleman's sausage. You can do it but it won't work.

On a serious note. No o2 sensor would send an engine error code and it won't start. The engine needs to run in closed loop mode to drive which uses the o2 sensor to adjust fuel and timing in real time. When you are caning it or on track it goes to open loop and runs off a specific map at set values.
