Vtec not working in eg track car

As above only had chance to get 1 run out in it. (Them speed sensor in gearbox not plugged in not sure were the plug has got to as doesn't seem to be one for it) also temp gauge not working. We have used clocks outa a lude and won't show any temperature also the fan won't come on when hot maybe linked into that. Any ideas would be great thanks in advance
