MOT blues

Just been told the Lude failed its MOT as it needs a couple of ball joints (front I believe). I thought that I might be in for a big bill given that Honda will only sell the complete arm rather than the ball joints. Is this correct as the garage seem to think that they have ordered the correct parts, which was just the ball joints. What is the LG experience with this type of MOT failure in a 5th Gen?

Upper or lower ball joints? Although not too important as both can be purchased without having to grab the whole arm.

Yeah that's right IIRC, Honda only do the whole arm but you can get aftermarket ball joints that can be pressed in/out

A hammer and something to cup the underside is enough to replace ball joints. The ball joints are easily available on EBay. IMO replace the whole upper arm if the bushes look in a bad way.

Yup it is a circlip so you need circlip pliers. Although some aftermarket ones don't have the little holes For the pliers, the holes make removal much easier.
