Valve clearances need doing?
Cambelt and water pump needs doing?
Both of these have matched this noise in my experience

my BB4 with the bigger A8 cams taps like hell for the first couple of minutes - this is due to me running them withold style lma.
so id be looking at lma wear as a possible culprit if its the sprung lma youve got - you could check valve clearance in the first instance. I recently bought some sprung lmas out of an A8 head and was surprised how worn they looked.

It sounds as if the oil is taking its time to flow fully round the head. If the head work is very new, I'd consider another oil change.
