Popped my dipstick out today (No pun intended)

Post by mr_drc » Sun Dec 30, 2018 8:46 pm

Had my dipstick pop out today lucky I pulled over and had a look under bonnet (for another reason)
Still wasn't soon enough to stop oil going drokking every where :o I'm thinking it's due to to much pressure/rocker Not venting well enough! Any thoughts people? Also any advice on cleaning oil off!
If it looks like jobby and smells like jobby it probably is jobby!

Apart from checking all the pcv lines that rich made I'm stumped. There must be a blockage somewhere.

That, or blow-by on the pistons? Could be the rings have moved out of alignment?

Do a compression test and see what figures you get back

That was my other thought how likely/possible is it for the rings to move out of alignment?

On a standard H22 it's very unlikely/never happens.
On a sleeved fresh build? Don't know - no particular reason why it should happen, but whenever things are custom there's always the chance.

I've had this twice . Both on different track days but it was down to me not pushing the dipstick in fully after checking the oil . Had you checked oil level at all ?
