3rd gear trouble.....

I took the new car out for a good 'test' last night. I am having trouble with 2nd-3rd in about 50% of changes at high revs. Everything else is smooth as. 2-3 is fine at lower revs.

I've done some research and it doesn't sound good. I have ordered the MTF I saw on another thread here and I am hoping for a miracle when I change the oil.

If not am I looking at a new box or Recon? Or just put up with it. It feels like I might be able to work out a technique to avoid crunch.

On a side note, love how the US call them "Trannys"

sound like the syncro's are on the way out, try double clutching between changes.

check the clutch fluid, it maybe worth a change, and make sure you have no leaks from the clutch system!

other than that its a recon on your current box or another box.

Is there anywhere special I could go to have my box reconditioned or will any transmission company be able to do it? There is a gearbox place down the road from I don't know if they will do mine. I might pop in and enquire next week. I imagine this is not going to be cheap. Does anyone sell recon boxes I could order?

think rich at performance auto works does it, is it an lsd box? if not probably be cheaper and easier to look for an accord type r box!

it is a pity you are so far away from me :!:
have just got a M2B4 lsd box to put in mine and saving all i can to pay Knightmare to fit it for me.
the M2A4 box i have in at the moment is all good. but that box will have to go as no where to store it :(
could have done a deal where you paid for my fitting and you could have had the box ;)

Thanks for the tips,

It's the M2P4 from my 99 5g Redtop that I am having the problems with. I have PM'd Rich for some advice.

I am guessing all the prelude boxes will fit? I would prefer a like for like unless there is something uber out there I should look out for?
