I am in a situation where the clutch is going to have to come out on the Type S, so if I am going to go for a lightened flywheel the time is now.

Rich at PAW has recommended either the CC Lightweight Flywheel (6.2kg) or the CC Ultralight Flywheel (4.9kg).

My car is not a daily, however, I don't want it to become a pig to drive. Also, does it make any real world difference? Finally, if it is worth it, which one should I go for?

So top 3 mods I have ever done on the Type S.

- 4.64 final drive in m2p4 gearbox
- Light weight flywheel
- PSPEC shortshifter

The light fly makes the engine super responsive, very rev happy and a very big difference in acceleration feel.
Yes it can drop revs just as easy and it makes stop start town drive more sensitive but it's very easy to get used to.

Rich has taken my Fidanza flywheel off and I'm replacing it with the CC ultralight fly. The ultralight is still heavier than the Fidanza by 1.3kg but still super light.

I recommend the accord type r clutch also. I'm going with that to replace my CC stage 2. I had it before and it's just perfect for N/A plus upgrades.

I have a 5.2kg (slightly less IIRC when put on scale) RPC flywheel.
Pros:
Engine is more responsive/revs quicker
heel-toe is easier
Cons:
Struggles a little bit more pulling away (Only a small inconvenience)
When A/C is on the extra load on the engine makes maintaining idle slightly harder and on the initial drop to idle (when depressing the clutch) the car seems like it's going to stall. It soons picks up though. I prefer to just switch the A/C off at the lights and the engine idles smoothly.
Overall:
Makes the engine a little more responsive. I can live with the downsides and these problems really depend on how much lighter the flywheel is compared to the stock one. For street use I reccommend 5ish kg.

That's odd, I get none of those side effects.

When I say that it struggles a bit more pulling away I mean that if you don't rev it quite enough when letting the clutch out the rpms drop off quicker so you have to concentrate that little bit more to get away. You get used to it fast though. Perhaps the A/C thing is my idle control valve getting a bit old and slow aswell.

Do it.. ive done mine on lots of my preludes and would do again. Even as a daily its perfectly driveable and ive used Fidanza.

I not sure how much you would notice between the two. I have the CC Ultralight in my 4th gen but is track use only.

I've got one in mine , not sure which one would need to dig out the paper work.

It makes a difference for sure in the feel compared to the old lude, its hard to tell if it makes much improvement acceleration wise by itself as my 2 ludes are comparable (h22a5 long gear vs h22a8 short gear).

however, downshifting on track is a bit easier for sure. a tiny bit easier to stall, but nothing id ever worry about.

If its cheap and your doing the clutch, bung one in, if not, its not worth doing it for the sake of it unless your doing the track driving.

i have a fidanza and i would highly recommend any light flywheel upgrade!
