Car Cutting Out
Lo All
Got a bit of an issue with My Lude
A few days ago My Lude cut out while driving and I managed to turn into a side road.
Car restarted OK.
Today the car on a long run cut out and restarted whilst driving
It was off for a very short while lights came on such as the abs light but car didn't lose much speed and luckily it ran untill I reached My destination.
Had it checked for error code's after the first cut out but it only had a D4 flash code of 16 which is Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid issue as well as ABS 81 which is ECU.
I can't believe the issue can be this as it sounds more like an electrical issue
I rang a local mechanic and He thought it may be the distributor
What do You guys think
Cheers for any help guy's

Car Cutting Out
As they can play up like this if badly wired in, or used to be wired in if previously there

Car Cutting Out
with the car running, id try to rule out any electrical issue first:
1) measured voltage when running - 14v or so? check that the battery is still over 12v after its shut off.
2) wiggle the loom on various places, did it cut out? not unknown for earth straps and the like to start to crack and intermittently disconnect.
3) look under the dash just incase there is an alarm or similar - any non OE wiring should be obvious.
4) check the ignition switch, i think there was a recal, the electric switch wears out, over heats, melts, and then makes intermittent connection.
Give the HT leads / spark plug boots a good going over with some WD40 , the odd arc out can cause intermittent misfire and spurious error codes. Pretty rare but costs nothing to clean the HT leads. Do them 1 at a time so you dont forget where they go!
Also - have a look in the ends of the dizzy cap where the plugs mount, and also inside to check the condition of the rotor arm/cap contacts , I've seen cars where these are simply powder!

Car Cutting Out
good advice ^^^
in 20 years only time my lude cut out was alternator (earth strap broke at the tab) and dizzy (replaced whole unit) and on 5th gens there can be issues with ignition switch (Honda recall 5th gen only)
hope you get it fixed without too much hassle

Car Cutting Out
Lo Guy's
Thanks very much for your replies
I think it sounds more like the ignition switch.
I have found one on eBay for £40 new oem.
I just don't know if I should buy one and fit it or try and confirm it's the fault somehow
Cheers peops
