Hi,
Anyone know what the power difference could be on the same car having an OEM cat, Sports cat, or being de -catted, assuming tuned accordingly afterwords.

if you amalgamated into other genuine power gain mods, it would be very advantageous to have a sports cat or go full de cat. if you want a few more ponies with a spoon copy chip, better exhaust system, intake etc which is a common setup then again quite worth it. on it's own, unless you just want more pops & bangs even after a tune i think it wouldn't be worth it.
no idea about figures, depends on the age/condition of the engine and other setup mods.
that's just my 10p

Many thanks,
I have a de- cat at present, but MOT time is a bit of a pain. Wondering if it's worth putting on a sports cat.

My bum dyno thinks there is a small but noticeable difference between cat and no cat, I can't comment on sport cat's though.

I had a sports cat when I was supercharged. Problems happened, suddenly my cats internals were no longer there.

......wait...the internals ended up in the back box, melted and engine almost fully failed.
Saying that. Melted sports can most likely was due to the extreme exhaust gas temps I was running from being supercharged and the retarded timing it was running.

on a completely stock h22a5, i noticed a little more top end power when there was a decat fitted. It was quieter in the cabin strangely (and probably slightly louder outside), but that was more noticeable than the slight extra few horses.

Yea 200 cell magnaflow on the torneo. Wouldn't say you notice a huge difference untuned but it's never caused an issue come mot time. Tuned with the fujitsubo mani/downpipe and 2.5" system is when the difference will be told. If your not planing on tuning at some point I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for that.
I have a 3" stainless system with a PLM manifold. It's has a '99 Euro R engine in it, after the original failed, and as mentioned, no cat at the moment. Dyno'd after the engine was installed at 239.8 bhp, but was wondering if a 200 cell was going to affect this much.
MOT time is pain time with no cat!
