F20A4 -> H22 swap questions

Post by tobyslude » Mon Mar 09, 2020 11:43 am

Hi!

I've currently got a BB9 5th gen, with the f20a4 engine and m2j4 gearbox.

I'm possibly looking at getting a 2.2vti auto donor car, I was wondering how easy a manual swap is but more importantly the wiring? As far as i'm aware its completely bolt in with the mounts etc, but could I use the VTi auto loom or the 2.0 loom? And I assume id have to get a manual 2.2 ECU?

I've got a M2P4 gearbox laying about as I was going to replace my 2.0 gearbox regardless as I lost reverse.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section!

Thanks

@fithotblonde had the 2.2 non vtec to vtec transplant done, i think you may need h22 driveshafts as well. loom wise, im sure someone will correct me but i think you'd need to swap the loom as well but that's quite easy during an engine swap - i'm not even that difficult with the engine still in :) manual ecu i'd say a definate yes, but older lude owners will again correct me if im wrong.

i'd also swap the brakes as im sure the fronts of 2.0's are smaller than any h22's, rears are fine.

You need to plug vtec wire, iab wire and knocksensor wire from engine to ecu.
geometry of engine wiring is different between f20 and h22, but you can fit it

The driveshaft part numbers are the same on my BB9 and a equivilant manual VTi. And yes planning on doing the brakes too.

Ah okay, do you know what ECU id be best using? My F20a4 ECU, the auto VTi ecu or buyng a manual VTi ecu? And will the immobiliser need reprogramming as its key coded or is that not touched?

Thanks

it doesn't matter which ECU (from AT or MT) i'm not feel any differences in my swaps.
YOu need to reprogramming immo, but i have ecu with immo killer or can suggest you to buy immo killer board (it could be soldered in ecu easy)
Also about ECU you need ecu EDM (1 oxygen sensor, no knock sensor) or JDM (1 oxy and knock sensor) ecu from H22 black top.
You can verify at me by ecu number for ex 37820-p5m-g11 and etc
