I don't have a 3rd gen.....yet.
Does anyone know if it is normal for the engine cooling fan to come on after the engine has stopped? The owner insists it's normal, but I've never heard of it.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

3rd gen cooling fan question
its possible - id be surprised if it did it all the time? Unless its an auto i guess - the gearbox will be giving off so much heat (possible heat exchanger with the rad setup), with no coolant flow and no airflow, heatsoak could raise the rad temp and put the fan on (assuming the rad switch is in the rad as most likely is on this age of car).
Someone with a 3rd gen can comment more accurately. When my lude was lowered , i noticed under bay temps were much hotter than before, so even unrelated things can affect the cooling...

3rd gen cooling fan question
Yes both mine did it, both manuals. I thought it was strange but they stopped after a few minutes.
It's very normal for modern cars to do it. My van does it all the time during or after a regen. The 3rd gen was predicting the future.

3rd gen cooling fan question
As Ratty said it's completely normal. Mine does it all the time and my 7 previous 3rd gens did it too. I seem to remember the Peugeot 405 used to do it too back in the day.
