Vtec Tuning and Turbo.....
Hi Guys,
I need more power for my 99 lude.
I was thinking of adding a turbo or getting the ECU coded to get more power out of the beast.
Are there any recommendations that you'd suggest?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

It depends on how much more power you want.
Which engine do you have now?

A remap will require a standalone ECU or piggyback, with bolt on mods you might see 30-40 bhp. Maybe £1-2k
A bolt on turbo setup with no engine upgrade will get you to maybe +80bhp without knowing how long it will last. Maybe £2-3k.
A built engine n/a with cams will get you maybe to +80bhp. Maybe £4-5k, not including labour costs.
A built turbo build will see you +100 to +300 depending on how big a turbo you go for. £5k minimum rising dependant on turbo/exhaust, etc, not including labour costs.

I've got the 2.2vtec so basically that came with 200bhp. I have an AEM cold air intake as well as a Tanabe Hyper Medallion aftermarket exhaust fitted.

im guessing you have a JDM import 2.2vtec? they had the 197bhp h22a - if yours is a UKDM 2.2vtec they are 182bhp h22a2 im afraid unless it's already had some mods.DarkDestroyer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:14 amI've got the 2.2vtec so basically that came with 200bhp. @Drax he said he has a 1999 so if UK, 2.2 and manual it will be 197bhp
@DarkDestroyer as someone else listed out above, it really depends how much you want to spend vs how much power you want to make.

Best bang for buck isn't power increase for putting a 4.64 final drive into the transmission, this will make the car so much more quicker as it will increase the wheel torque.
If you have a h22a8, put an accord type r intake manifold on it. Stock a8 throttle, hondata s300 ECU and you should see around 235-240bhp.
