Hi, I have a question on the 3rd gen autobox, has anyone experienced leaks? I'm losing red fluid, which appears to fall directly below the solonoids area of the gearbox. Is there a leak point near here? I'll be checking fluid levels tomorrow when it is cooled down and I can move it somewhere flat (I'm on a slight incline)

Also getting a slip from second to third where the revs shoot up to 3k before changing gear. I've got it booked with a gearbox specialist who will be changing the fluid and checking for leaks but thought I'd ask here, he mentioned that if it needs a rebuild it would be £1300+vat.

If you've got a fluid leak, low fluid level could easily be the cause of that.

They're pretty bullet-proof boxes tbf, no known trouble areas that I'm aware of?

The hoses that carry the oil to the cooler at the front of the car and any seals between components might well be perished and starting to leak just due to age though of course - but that isn't gearbox re-build territory.

Decided to sell it as is. The leak is from the solenoids, and the previous seller had a set in the boot. Also the arches and sills need doing and I've been offered a fixed term job away from home. I had intended to take this as a daily driver (me being a dumbass) but this one can't do it. May try again if I get a transfer or find a job closer to home. Thanks W
