alright guys

upon receiving my crankshaft pulley from rob (lude-dude), cheers by the way,I gathered the necessary tools from work ie torque wrench,mini-jack and 1/2 in drive socketry and came home to get her moving again.

jacked up , removed wheel ,positioned pulley, inserted woodruff key and then THE bolt of hugeness

bit of threadlock and tightened then once tight as it would go with the normal ratchet out came the beast

this torque wrench is about three foot long and proceeded to torque to 245Nm .... holy jobby i was sweating trying to get it to click

torqued , then belts refitted (another muffin job) hands are shredded :(

went for a spin and the :scaredtoss: started drove for about 5 miles then headed home and when slowing down i think i heard the same sort of noise as before when it went :? did i or didnt i??

decided to re-torque the bolt only this time i never took the wheel off just used the wee access hole ,went for 245Nm again and while tightening i felt the tension coming off the torque wrench :o
oh jobby i thought the bolts gonna snap!!!

apparantly not ,it actually twisted the 1/2 in drive extension bar  (not mine) so im assuming the bolts not gonna move
does anyone else get paranoid when they fix something themselves ???

anyway the long and short of it is shes moving again

gotta love the prelude 8-)

i swear ive read your not supposed to use threadlock here :scaredtoss:

know what you mean about the paranoia though! every time i tighten up rocker cover nuts and vtec solenoid bolts im terrified of them snapping off!

jobby man dont say that ,doesnt say anything in the 5g manual about it (unless i missed it) and the mechanic at my work said it would be fine :scaredtoss:
can anyone confirm???

too late now......

it'll still come off when i need to do the belts........

Sorry man, that bolt is a wet torque. No threadlock, just oil on the bolt :(

Sure you'll be able to beast it off when the time comes.

oh well maybe a bit of insurance against it coming loose of its own accord

it will come off, just perhaps not as easily

** just read the bible again and it shows you where to lubricate when refitting the bolt**
you oil the thread (which i did do) so maybe the threadlock wont take quite as well as on a dry bolt. :ugeek:

or maybe im kidding myself on

With just the oil on the bolt the engines rotation tends to keep it tight and it take ~500Nm to undo it, will be higher if it's got stud lock on it, worst case scenario would be find someone to spark erode the bolt and buy a new one.
