so why not put in a k20 head, k24 bottom, the 6 speed box

make it the normal way round and then its not a prob

k series is the future of vtec
and its current. prices will be going down and as you said parts more readily available

if i keep mine for total longterm iv already considered this option

so buy 2 different engines, create a frankinstein & replace the lump in the car

vs

a know h22 modification

Each to their own.

Wow, on holiday for 5 days and I miss a 7 page thread on supercharging!

You know my thoughts James - Rotrex could be done with some detailed thinking, some have been mentioned. The easiest and cheapest of the lot is to run a double sided belt.
Obviously this would be a custom job - but waaaaay cheaper than reversing the internals. The Eaton M62's that the JR kit uses, has the rotors flipped to work with the H22's anticlockwise rotation. Other solutions is placing it where the power steering reservoir area or down below this area like the 5th gen M62 build linked in my build thread. Then there is the great option to run a driveshaft to the intake side of the engine - like the Vortech's - fairly easy to do in theory.
That Vortech build link is nice - I looked for a second hand one of these, but they only came up as full kits for other cars for as much or more than the JR Prelude kit was second hand.

There is always a solution to fit something, it just depends on how far you want to take it.

I won't go into the whole SC vs. Turbo debate, it's been talked to death, but I think the guys have summed it up quite well here.

As for flipping the head or K series engines - why go all that effort for an engine that has the same power to then 'start' to boost? Makes no sense in my mind.

Just my 2p. Need any pointers or help James you know where I am.

Oh and in terms of intercooling the intake charge on a JRSC - there are 'ways' to intercool or better charge cool the air, it will just cost a few £££ to make something custom. I'll do it one day (like the rest of my build!). But just add water injection like I'm doing if you're concerned on intake temps and detonation - but 6psi on larger injectors and a good tune will be fine with the JRSC.

Shall I bring the SC kit up to the big meet for you to drool over - that'll sway you! :P

Cheers,

Rob

heard that before @ japfest 2011, japshow 2011, japfest 2012, japshow 2012

as for the k series debate i will diagree with you robert, k series can get ALOT of power for minimal investment, or should i say for the same investment you would put into a H you would yield far greater results on a K. shame k's are still so expensive and the conversions kits arent cheap. and the gearboxes are meant to be even more Clubbing Eddy than h series ones

Yeah got a little sidelined, the head spin was an alternative but if it costs mega money to do then may aswell modify the sc

Rob, bring it! Or even better, install it and drive the lude up ;)

The reason for the head spin suggestion was to squeeze in a k20 SC kit which would probably be cheaper than a h22 option. You can then mount the sc with drive belt on the right instead of the left which reverses the charger to go with the opposite rotation. Well, that was the idea :?
