Going to replace my oil, what do you guys use?
Ideally if you have a built or rebuild engine, or regularly give your car a good spanking

i use fully sythetic from morrisons, its on offer at tesco at the moment. this is good if you have just rebuilt the motor, i would be possible to change it twice at this price (change again after 1000miles for rebuilt motor, help you sleep at night

what rating is it?

they do both - 0-30 and 5-30 , think its the 5-30 on offer
supose it depends on how fussy you are, i always use cheaper oil, always have done with no issues, but alot on here will say NO, and look at you all shocked.
if your giving it a real good spanking then maybe a higher rating would be in order, to me oil is oil, i even spent 3 years using multigrade (10w40 made by solar petrolium )for lawnmowers and agricultural uses in my lude with no ill effects but then it was a low milage engine. i now have switched to the sythetic simply because its sold in supermarkets

in fact now i think of it, i used this oil (solar patrolium) in loads of cars because it was free, i used to get it from work, returns because it had leaked in transit.
maybe run this thread as a poll and see what the majority use.

I used cheaper oil on my old lude without any issues but I've spent a lot of money on my engine now. I've got 0W-40 Mobil1 in at the moment and I don't think the 40 rating is high enough as the oil properties have changed (reading the pressure gauge) so looking for something a bit more robust at the higher temps.

maybe ask rob what he uses on his supercharged motor

supose a more expensive oil (top of the range) is a small cost compared to the cost of the uprated motor. better safe than sorry

I use Mobil1 5-40 Synthetic personally. I found 5-30 burns off too fast and 10-40 made the engine feel "heavy". Not exactly a low mileage engine at 97K, and it's probably all in my head
