Difficulty removing coolant drain plug from back of engine?

If you find it a complete pain in the back side removing the 19mm coolant drain bolt from the rear of your H22A engine block, try this...

I've replaced my car's coolant three times now. The first time was difficult. The second and third times I gave up removing the coolant drain plug and took my car to a local garage for them to put the car up on their lift so they could loosen the bolt for me. The bolts is to the left of the oil filter and you can hardly see it. As you can hardly see the drokking thing, removing it isn't easy 'cos of the awkward access.

After many failed frustrating attempts to remove the bolt, the bolt itself was getting a little worn and was rounding off, which doesn't help matters in the future. I bought a new one from Honda (£9.94 - 90001-PM3-003) and got a spare socket welded to it for £5.00.

Here's a photo of the finished product:

And here's a photo of the original which is a bit worn now:

Yes, I know, that has crossed my mind (I have OCD). However, think of the added benefit of it acting as a mini coolant cooler! More surface area, more cooling?

True, but being thicker metal will take longer to disperse the heat into the socket, would be better with thin fins, but then it wouldn't function as a socket!

I struggled when i did it. Considered fitting a thread connector with a short length of hose hanging down capped on the end so i could just drain it out into a bucket nice and clean without it running all down the back of the block and everywhere.
Yours is also a nice idea though
