Alternatives to OEM heater?

This topic was covered on PUK a while back but I'm interested to see if anyone has any new ideas.

I have a leak in my 4G in either the heater matrix or the hoses that go to the matrix. I know this as I have pools of water coloured with antifreeze, dribble marks down the inside of my firewall, and every once and while I get a wiff of coolant (mmmm curry ). Since its a track car I'm probably going to get rid of the OEM blower, it weights a fair bit apparently. Can anyone think of better alternatives to whats listed below.

Loop off coolant hoses either at the rear of the block or inside the fire wall and use one an in-line fan http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/In-Line-Bilge ... 3cc7af3ab5 to blow only cool air take from an outside feed.

Loop off coolant hoses either at the rear of the block or inside the fire wall and use an electric heater like this http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/Elec ... ater_DEMST and run some piping to the vents at the window.

Keep the coolant hoses and use a micro matrix and fan http://www.t7design.co.uk/index.php?mai ... 9b5f6bb595 Only blows hot air. I suppose I could rig up something to swap over to cold air.

Any thoughts?

IF you rob parts from a UKDM, the valve that controls the flow of coolant though the matrix is cable operated and lives in the engine bay. Then the micro matrix + blower would do hot and cold (plus the in between values too).

^^Ideas, I like them :D How does the JDM one do it? Do you know?

Rainx anti-fog will probably be needed when using any of these ideas.

As much as I like my arse to be warm, I dont think they do heated racing seats. If they did they will be way out of my budget anyway :(

Obtain a broken 1

Inspect it

See if you could repair it can't be hard

Test it

Install it

It wouldn't be FIA approved so wouldn't get past scrutineering. Anyway I'll have a race suit on so I wont be cold. I'm more concerned in seeing where I am going ;)
