engine??
engine??
Hi all, i have treated myself with 5gen lude but it is not clear what it is? i owned gen4 before and decided that its time to get gen 5. i have found nice looking one with 83k miles but there seems to be problem with the registration. when checking insurance depending on what website i go it tells me either 2.2 vti, 2.2si, 2.3 manual. when i looked up to check the engine number F22B on google again loads of different info including 2.4 si. i know for sure that it is si as its stated under the bonnet but thats about it. it is not vtec as they are signed vtec and mine isn't. this is JDM 1996 or 1997 automatic. can any one give me correct answer? and some specs? thanks in advance

Re: engine??
Hello, Welcome to Lude generation.
As Jayjay says a pic of the engine will explain a lot. If yours does state that its an SI thats the DHOC 2.2 non VTEC.

Well yes but the engine is an F22B, which is in the Xi model and its a SOHC 2.2 non-VTEC. Do you not remember that MASSIVE discussion about the eBay SOHC 2.2 Prelude that was also an "Si" but had the SOHC engine and it turned out it was an Xi
The only 5th gen with the F22B was the JDM Xi model.
It's approx 133hp vito.

Merlin wins. That has to be an F22B DOHC:
What's your chassis code? The F22B in the BA9 Prelude had a DOHC configuration

DOHC is better yup - comes in at 160PS (which is about 156Bhp in real money)
