WORST WEEK EVER!

My van broke down pissing coolant all over the motorway so i have been trading since wednesday morning. No van = no money.
Its been at VW getting fixed with new brakes all round and a new radiator £1080 inc VAT.

So i started the Type S this morning as iv been using that. Bare in mind i still dont have my van back yet.

And the clutch pedal has collapsed and it wont go in gear.
So i take it thats the master cylinder. Fluid was low so i topped it up but nothing.

- The car is about 200m for my girlfriends house at the bottom of a steep hill
- The car is 25 miles from my house.
- Because my van has broken down im fully booked until saturday so ill have to leave the S.
- Cant be towed without the bumper being removed.
- Can afford the innovitive engine mounts anymore.

Pull back the boot on The slave cylinder to.see.if.the is fluid there and have a look in the foot well to where the rod from the pedal meets the firewall to see if there is fluid there.

Iv had a look around the clutch pedal both interior and engine side and no leaves.
After lots of pedal pushing and pulling there is a healthy drip of fluid under the gearbox so slave cylinder it is.
But i dont have a jack low enough to get under the car to check.
Brake Int do refurbed slaves for £42 and masters for £39. DO i get both or the slave.

Only gripe will be if the slave can be changed by myself and a low jack with ATTS tomfoolerly in the way.

Slave cylinder right on the front of the gearbox so no need for a jack, I've replaced 2 now cos they are the most likely bit to fail.

I wouldn't bother with the master if I was you.

That is very bad week youve had :(
I dont know if its any help but ive got a slave cylinder in very good condition with all the piping attached so it might be easier to swap over that way but its from a BB1 4th gen so dont know if would fit - im also in London until next Friday so wouldnt be able to post anything off to you until next Saturday.

How? How do you get under the car. Mine is slammed and about 2" clearence.

I assume its 2 10mm bolts and a couple of fluid hoses. Swap all round, top up fluid and push pedal until sexyness returns?

cant remember if it leaked fluid, but clutch went to the floor

normally it is a cylinder problem, but my case it wasnt
