Lude Generation

I'm currently undergoing a big project on my BB1 and need assistance in removing my engine from the car. I've done most of it using the service manual but I've hit a wall and could do with some help off anyone local if possible who has done it before

I've taken engines out, but not on a lude. I am in Lincoln for a few days over xmas, and would be happy to lend a hand then, but there may be more experienced help here if you explain your problems.

are you lifting the engine or dropping it.

Cheers guys for the replies. Im going to lift it out. The problems im having are:

- Front section of the exhaust, the bolts are rotten and are totally rounded off nothing i try seems to move it.
- Driveshafts wont bloody pop out
- Draining transmission fluid, what do i use its not a bolt, unless im being a biff and looking at wrong one lol
- damper forks and lower arm look pretty rotten

The common factor here - RUST!!!!!!! suppose thats what happens when you buy a car part ex thats been near Skegness for over 10 years and not been looked after

use the 1/2 inch drive extension and that will undo the drain bolt
drive shafts you need to pop from behind with a pry bar or you could get a mate to hammer on a piece of wood from the top while you pull, that will shock it out.
the suspension bolts should come off but then again its easier if you got a gun

front bolts you going to need to work that 1 out mate. they can be a bugger

Extension bar? ive not tried that. I will see if i can get a pic of the state of the suspension bolts you will be shocked lol. Im completely at a loss with the exhaust front section ive already got to replace a stud on the cylinder head for holding the exhaust manifold on it looks like it has sheered at somepoint and not been repaired.

yeah you know, if you cant get to it with your ratchet, then add the extension to it perfect fit.

you know if screw in a nut the opposite way once it gets to the next nut it will undo the full bolt

there is an irwin set you can buy from machine mart. chews into the nut
1 of the best thing i ever bought when i rounded a bolt off.

i may need to invest in a set of those looking at the state of the bolts, ive already spent 50-60 quid on replacement bolts
