Lude Generation

my wife's car has developed a problem when starting. It cranks and runs. Idle then drops. So She touches the accelerator and it dies. F20a4 engine. Any ideas?

Sticking throttle body butterfly valve or idle air control valve?

Yeah, try accelerating it directly at the throttlebody.

does the 2.0i have fitv on the throttle body

Fast Idle Temperature Valve

fast idle thrermo valve

under the throttle body, bolted to it

coolant flows through it, think it works on temp so now its cold you might be getting problems

could be clogged up or something, I know mine gets this problem but thats my own fault for changing the whole throttle body to remove it

Shouldn't be cutting out though as soon as you touch the accelerator because of a FITV, if anything an open TB would help. Maybe the TPS is screwed ???

Was going to say, all times I had problems with iacv and fitv always has shown as an eratic idle. Same with the tps lude never cut out just kept going from 500rpm to 1500rpm.
Have you checked the play in the cable? Has it streached maybe?
