BigDamo's lude out of action

Damo's BB4 broke down and as long as he drove home with the lights off the car would run
first checked altenator and no power going to battery ;) then noticed that the belt going round the bottom pully was only 3 grooves wide and split :? really slack as well :!:

so he has parked it up :!: bottom pully has some wobble in it, is this enough to chew through the belt?

so looks like he wants change pully and new belt and he has a new cam belt already to go on, but this would mean waterpump too.

any advice please and if anyone has a good pully or links to parts ;) my mechanic has offered to fit all parts he gets for £170 but we need to sorce the bits needed.

Damo cant come online himself as his internet is down ;)

In theory all you need to replace is the cambelt

BUT while your in there and going to the expense of doing the cam belt you might as well do all the other bits like, Water pump, auto tensioner, balance shaft seal retainer and balance shaft belt

Always always do the auto tensioner, it's about £70 but its not worth skipping.

Dbo - Ive had the same happen to my lude . I spent about £200 on parts including the manual H23 conversion kit - manged to do the work along with a few friends - im sure i put a list of parts and costs together - i will try and find the thread so that will give you a good starting point to work from ;)

here it is - hope this helps
