Intake Resonator Hose?

Hi Guys,

Just a quick one.

Changed my front bumper today so thought I might as well take the intake resonator out while I was there, to help out with top-end a bit.

Now I've got this long pipe hanging loose which I understand I should seal off in some way.

Is this the case?

If so, should I follow it back to source & plug it up there?

What would you use to plug it up?

Out of interest, what happens if you don't plug it up?

Thanks.

right, follow this hose from the resinator and you should find a pipe break near the battery tray, basically a double ended, straight pipe connector.

disconnect both bits of pipe from this and keep it, try not to break it you will need it later.

trace the pipe back to a black box just behind and above the battery, you should find another pipe going into this. follow that line back to to T piece. disconnect it and ignore it from this point forward. now remove the T piece from the remaining 2 pipes and replace it with the straight connector you removed earlier.

you can remove the black box mentioned earlier aswell as the piping if you so desire.

or just plug the line!

So to be clear, should I just be plugging the long black piece of piping with a screw, or following the piping back & fixing the two pipes together with said connector?

if you ride horses and round up cattle, wearing spurs and leather chaps just plug the line, if you want to do a decent job follow the line back and make it look a hell of a lot better ;)

Haha, I'll dust off me chaps, saddle up, & plug that line then!

Na, I'll do it properly tomorrow. Thanks

Ok, followed 4thgenphil's concise write-up, & completed the task in 20 mins.

It was incredibly simple, even for me. :stupid: And I removed the unnecessary black box as well.

Took it for a spin after said process, & I swear to god it runs better & smoother! Noticeably more so than simply plugging the pipe with a screw. Totally worth the minimal extra effort to get the job done right. :)

Looking forward to getting a fresh k&n panel filter now to complete the job! :vtec:

Thanks Phil, you have improved the quality of my life. :hail:

Simple, but very worthwhile modification.
