Distributer question

Post by pbryant_knight » Sat May 18, 2013 4:58 pm

Hi all. It looks like it may be the distributer that's masking my car fail to start. It's a 1998 2.0i auto.

Are all 5th gen distributers the same? Will a 2.2 dizzy fit my 2.0?

Cheers

Peter

Have you tried the main realy? Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on? If so its not that and it will be coil pack in the dizzy like you say.

And if this helps some 2.0 Rovers have the very same dizzy so it will be cheaper to buy too and easier to find than a 2.0 honda ;)

im sure u may have fixed this by now but..... just in case :) i took a complete distributor off a 2.0 to replace mine on my previous 2.2 auto n it was different. however, on the plus side the coil inside was identical!! so i just cleaned the brushes, replaced the actual coil and all was fine :)

He's bought my complete distributor, so should hopefully fix it.
