It only drips when engine is off, when running its ok if the heating fans are on. I can't get the cooling fans to come on at all though unless I put power directly to them.
Is water pump swap something I can do at home on the street or is this a job for a mechanic?

Its brand new mate, it came with the new rad last week. Surely its the water pump if water is dripping out of the timing belt cover? Is there a way to test it?

hmmm prob water pump as you say but i had some problems after fitting new water pump and then a new rad a few months later- was finally solved after fitting new rad cap - just thought you might want to check this first - the cheapo rads sometimes come with the wrong rad cap - should be 1.1 bar.

Something obvious, like the mating surfaces not very clean, or a dodgy gasket?

Bit of a strip-down to check, though.
