New Battery Tie / Stay

Post by CARRisma » Wed May 29, 2013 10:08 pm

My car's original battery tie was looking a little tatty so I bought a replacement from Tegiwa Imports via eBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0645933063).

It seems that with most other Hondas, the battery tie sits straight across the battery whereas with the Prelude, the securing poles are at an angle to each other. The Tegiwa Imports battery tie has a shallow 2 or 3 mm cut out underneath it where the battery sits in, so it doesn't quite sit right when fitted in a Honda Prelude as it's at an angle. To satisfy my OCD, I relocated the securing pole nearest to the air intake by drilling a hole in the metal tray & plastic shroud thingy. Here's the result:

Good work on making it straight, bothers me too.

Although I'm not so sure about the untidyness of your battery cables. :poke:

Did you get new securing poles etc. too?

Nah, I soaked them in Bilt Hamber Deox Gel and then used metal polish on them.

Since I took that photo, I've added a dome capped nut on top of each pole. They are just the right height as to make contact with the securing nuts below.

I've just noticed that the battery cable nearest to the radiator is usually tucked out of the way, I'll sort that on Friday as a priority!

A lot better looking than the OEM one! Have you seen the Ichibahn one? If I wasn't relocating my battery to the boot, i'd have one of them :)
