probably best to try and trace whats causing the low idle - theyre set from the factory like merc says between 650 and 750rpm - the idle screw is sealed with wax - you shouldnt have to adjust the idle unless its been messed with previously. :)

I would imagine its more likely IACV related.

My just need cleaning out.

Faulty IACV's usually cause rev's to increase rather than drop. Although if it is properly goosed it might not have any effect.

Have a look at the 4G service manual and see the procedure for setting base idle.

Edit - best description for the H22 is page 11-115 of the 5th gen service manual http://www.storageserver.co.uk/files/69 ... l.pdf.html

When you set base idle you disconnect the IACV so that would automatically take the IACV out of the equation. When the IACV is disconnected the revs should drop. The FITV is only operational during startup, and its purpose is to increase revs when the engine is cold. IF the FITV was faulty it would increase revs.

It could even be something as simple as needing a service. Do you know when the last one was done?
