auto tensioner stopper dimensions

Post by bb1boy » Wed Jun 12, 2013 1:09 pm

Hi guys, does anyone have an auto tensioner stopper tool they can measure for me please? I don't have one and it looks to be quite important when it comes to fitting the tensioner. I don't want to buy one so I thought I'd just make one.
cheers

You should get one with the new tensioner?

yes if your geting new from honda it come with stopper assembled on the tensioner - ive had a tensioner failure due to improper handling (ie/ no stopper used when removing it/replacing it) - some poeple try and fit these useing a flat blade screwdriver to depress the plunger - this is not a good idea ;)

I got a used tensioner from Rich on here, it has only been used for 5k or so, but unfortunately it didn't come with the stopper thing.

Vanzep, I think the link HondaHardy has posted shows how you can refit a used tensioner, but it is again thinking that I have the stopper.

I am not able to check just now but I think on lings it lists the tool as separate too. You could try and find a part number and get one? You'd be able to sell it on surely.

I've got my brand new one at home still that I can measure up for you if you like.

Or I could lend you mine maybe, as long as it's not likely to get damaged. Might cost a bit in postage each way though.

No? :?
