Lost most of my engine power ......

So here goes....

Driving home from Bournemouth today and had to break very hard as a guy slammed hisbrakes on while driving down the duel carriageway and he came to a complete stop.

He was right in front of my lude, so I too had to break like I haven't done in years.
As a result after this when I got driving again I noticed loads of power seams to have gone from the engine. It pulls off extremely slow, kickdown works well still but gives no extra power at all really
Acceleration is 40% of what it was I would say roughly too.

Drives like if you had both brake pads sticking on the back wheels completely, but this is not the case as I have checked.

Someone please help-Totally gutted and am worried its going to cost a lot to put right, which I have no chance of affording.

What the hell is wrong with the lude guys? Anyone have any ideas? Still learning the tracks with preludes, so it could be something someone knows on here, but I don't have a clue. As a result worried this is the end of the journey for this car, or am I being a drama queen?

EEEEEKKKKKK......

Someone please reassure me what the problem is, and that it wont coast much to sort out!

Have you checked to make sure your front brakes aren't still on? :?

Drive the car for a bit then stop and touch the front wheels, if they are hot then your brakes may be binding/stuck.

Ok so googled vac leak, and now no what it is.

Anyway this could well be the problem-can it be caused by breaking hard though?

And if it is, how much to repair?

Cheers

Sorry mate I was uber busy when I wrote that reply

Check the pipe going from your brake servo to your into intake manifold (not entirely sure if ludes have these mind!) Bt I had the same thing happen on a clio, the brake booster vaccum hose exploded when I broke to avoid a granny, should have just mowed her down now I think about it
