Hi all

I've had a problem with my lude the whole time I've had it, it seems to bunny hop when cold everytime, it gets pretty annoying first thing in the morning or when going home to start with, I've also noticed a sqweal sound when accelerating with a slight loss in power when I hear the sound (the engines warm at this point)

What do you think would cause this?

Sounds clutch related to me. Is it more of a bunny hop or judder?

When you say bunny hop, do you mean "jaults" as if you're quickly jabbing on the accelerator?

How is it when just idling? Is it in any particular rev range?

Have you cleaned your IACV, EGR valve, FITV (or adjusted this)?

Does it smell of fuel? Could it be over fuelling?

Could it be the crank position sensor?

When you say bunny hop, do you mean kangarooing?

Do you have the rubber bung in place over the clutch inspection hole?
I believe if you get water in there it can cause these symptoms.

That's what I thought; moisture or debris in the clutch plate. Didn't consider the plug though. Good idea! ;)

Hi chaps it seems fine once the engine is warm,

The bunny hops are as only when I accelerate when the engine iiis cool, as soon as the oil reaches just over 50c it all seems fine bar the very odd occasion.

I do have a plug inserted in the inspection hole in the gearbox

I didn't think to check the revs I was hitting when this occurs, but I'll check next time.

The eve valve has been cleaned a few times since I've had the car, and I cleaned it about 3 weeks ago just for good measure,I haven't played about with any if the others but I will do soon.

Only thing I will say is the engine has a lot of coked up oil in the engine still from the previous owner, and using Mobil 1 new life 0w40 seems to burn/ leak out very quickly, but not sign of a major oil leak in the garage where it sits just a drip or maybe two

It could be over fuelling, this is my thoughts or something oil rerelated it does smell of fuel but then iv got a few mods "not" including a decat pipe ;) and the cars not been tuned.

I wonder if it is a FITV (Fast Idle Thermo Valve) problem? The FITV assists cold idle until the engine is up to temp. The FITV is under the throttle body and held on with 3 bolts. The thermowax plunger may need adjusted, has become seized, or needs replaced.

I'd check your FITV first. Then possibly the thermo sensor just below the dizzy. This helps determine the air fuel mix, so if it's dodgy could be over/under-fuelling.
