hey guys, my car reads in mph, so has a converter. vtec engages at 5.2k in 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th. i dont have vtec in first gear at the 5.2k, but.... i was having a session at the traffic light gp with an audi a3 s line earlier and i hit the limit at about 6.5k in first... then all of a sudden vtec kicked in at what i thought was the rev limit in first gear taking me to the red line. and my vtec light illuminated, so my question is why? would it be because i hit the speed range for vtec to engage? also where would be the location of my converter out of interest?

Yeah you reached over 28mph in 1st so Vtec engaged, just won't for long at first isn't long enough
Your converter is between the Vss and the ECU

I thought the minimum speed for VTEC was 18mph?
Ammo wrote:You won't Vtec till your moving the ECU needs a reading from the VSS of over 18mph before it will let Vtec engage
