Water/Meth Injection tank

Post by Mudgey » Thu Jul 25, 2013 12:16 pm

Hello,

I am currently pricing up the cost of a DIY water/meth injection kit and don't like the look of the plastic tanks, I am thinking of making a stainless steel tank to fit somewhere in the preludes boot and was wondering if anybody else has looked into this, do you guys have any idea on where might be the best place for it in the boot and how it could mount back there?

Cheers!

I have all my water/meth kit and simply picked up a 10 litre jerry can to add some fittings to:

at £19.99 delivered it was a cheap but funky option and in red to boot!

I was going to mount it on the n/s/r area of the boot with those red ratchet straps, not sure how successful this will be though. The location was to try and counteract my weight (good luck!), I also have my lightweight battery and mount to fix to the o/s/r area, plus some wiring gubbins.

Custom would have been nice but this build owes me too much to warrant the extra spend.

Thats a nice kit you got hold of there, good idea with tank too! I am currently trying to piece together a kit on the cheap and for that price I think i'll get a jerry can too! Is the jerry can steel? I have heard that Water/Meth will corrode aluminium and steel, apart from high grade 316+ Stainless.

Yeah its a little Ghetto, but still looks quite tidy.

As for whether the water/meth will corrode it, I wouldn't have thought so, it's supposed to carry petrol/diesel so surely some watered down meth will be ok?

I got my methanol and distilled water (make sure you use distilled) from these guys:

Cheapest I could find looking around. Cheaper if you buy bulk. I just have 5 litres of each to do a 50/50 mix to get me going. Still wondering whether to use it all if my chargecooler plans work out. It can only help more, not to mention the extra power from the Meth.

Those are some good prices, will keep them in my favourites.

Water/Meth is far more corrosive than Petrol, thats why you cannot run it through standard injectors or use steel/alu tanks like you can with fuel. You should double check the Jerry can is suitable as I am not quite sure over time it will last, you don't want bits coming lose and clogging up your nozzles.

I am going to see if I can get away without running a charge cooler, the cost will be so expensive plus i'd have to put in all the time and energy to make a custom unit... I have not seen my boost gauge read over 5 psi yet, so with the w/m injection and a 9 psi pulley we should see some good gains :)
