Has anyone ever used a cheaper gasket than the Honda OEM? I don't feel like spending £50 on an OEM gasket. IF so what one and from where?

Cheers

I used one that came in an engine gasket kit, so not Honda. Can't remember the kit as I bought it years ago and the gasket has been sat on the shelf for at least 5 years. I can't see you going wrong with non OEM though as it just a piece of rubber, and quite a thick one at that.

Worth a shot? I would..

I bought one from a local factors when I changed my sump to a baffled one, was a lot cheaper than a Honda one and never had a problem with it.

Yeah I know, a bit of sealant and it will be all good. Yeah I might give that a go.

Or I could go super cheap  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAI-OIL-PAN-G ... 43b3913bdb

Lings lists the 2.2VTEC & 2.3 having the same sump gasket (11251-P45-G00)

I bought a cheap one for my peugeot 106, I think it was even the same make as the one in that link. I had no trouble with it so i'd say go for it. If it was a head gasket etc I wouldn't but the sump isn't under that much pressure and it's that easy to change its worth a try I reckon.

Blimey that is cheap.

I've used FAI headgaskets in the past on other cars and had no issues. DO IT.

I've just bought one similar to them @merlin although I haven't fitted mine yet. How easy are they to replace? I think mine needs doing as mine that is fitted at the moment is sticking out I think its leaking. Hence why I bought a new one but I think its the actually usual O ring that's leaking the most. Is there a link or thread on how to fit the sump gasket? Is it an easy job?
