H22A8 Ignition Timing

Post by CARRisma » Thu Aug 01, 2013 10:52 am

Next up on my to do list is to check and adjust the ignition timing.

I understand that not all H22 engines can have their ignition timing adjusted as the distributors are fixed. My car has the H22A8 which has a knock sensor, so I wonder if mine can't be adjusted?

Firstly, do we know if the H22A8 can have it's ignition timing adjusted by rotating the distributor?

Secondly, would anyone be kind enough to lend me their ignition timing lamp / strobe / thingy? If you're not local, I'll happily cover the postage both ways.

Here's my distributor with cap removed:

I assume the second photo taken underneath the distributor means my timing can be adjusted?

I would give it a go, mark up the bolts etc just in case.
