Hey,
Helped my mate with installing his, we had the same problem. eventually decided to modify one of the braces to support the intake. Not sure if this is what its meant for, but works out fine. I would wait for some other opinions, just to make sure. ;)

that's what they are for to support the intake and stop it moving around

+1

Where you brace the intake, i'm not sure but don't just leave it hanging off the TB!

the brackets are meant tp brace the intake near the filter - they should attach to somewhere on the front of the shock tower on the driver side - this is where the pipe takes a bend just before where the oem airbox sits.

Should be like this;

(only not with the crushed filter lol )

There's 2 brackets on this one, one goes off to the inner wing (back left of the filter as shown in this pic), one goes back and down to near the bottom of the battery tray (back rhs of the filter as shown in thus pic).

The brackets in that pic come with the official apex'i induction kit and mount onto existing mounting holes on the shell.

Might not have both with whatever induction kit you're fitting, but should certainly have at least 1 like that.
