Lude Generation

As i have painted the rocker cover on my 2.2 type s, i have had to remove the heat mat thingy that is clipped to the underside of the bonnet as it has sagged and was rubbing on the rocker cover.
so, should i refit it or is it ok to leave it off in the long run?
i do not want the engine temps to bugger up my bonnet paintwork.
advise please.

I have one fitted but it interferes with my LPG injectors and it has rubbed a patch of my rocker cover paint off where it sags so I am also interested in the outcome of this poll.

I can't see the poll on tapatalk but some 5gs don't have that fitted to the bonnet from the factory. The car I'm talking about in particular is the JDM 2.2 si (non vtec) That's the only experience I have of this. Not sure if the type s runs hotter or if the engine is closer to the bonnet etc.

I took mine off years ago, hasn't made any difference at all.

I voted yes as I have one fitted, although I cut out the part that was sagging etc. No effect on paint work after 3-4 yrs but I do sometimes get a little bit of steam off that area of the bonnet when it is raining and I'm sitting in traffic

I always remove mine, due to either tattiness or rubbing issues. Never ever had a problem.

The only thing you may notice on cold mornings when the engine is warm is how the condensation on top of the bonnet takes the same formation as the bonnet structure/skeleton.

5th Gens do indeed come with it. Especially Jdms.
I removed mine since it was knackered. No issues with bonnet heat. The sunlight will cause way way way more damage on a black car.

I stuck the bit that sags with some Sikoflex. No rubbing issues now!

If it's tidy, keep it and do what I did to fix the sag. Simples:
