Which oil?

What oils are people running in the 2.2 vtec engines then?

Was going to go for fully synthetic but am I going to end up with leaking gaskets as a result? Think it had 10w40 semi synthetic last time.

Interested in opinions please :)

And just to make this a bit more challenging, how about some spark plug recommendations too? I read that people seem to rate NGKs over the £2 bosch type

MO, I would use either 10W40 semi synth or 5W40 Fully synth (this is what I use in my civic and will be using in the prelude). People have and do use different grades of oil without problems. It would seem that the H22 is quite particular on its choice of spark plugs, as to what grade of plug im not sure. They only seem to like NGK I think.

I use fully syn 10/40, at the moment I'm using shell helix, you can pick it up for around 20 quid for 5 litres at most places. Opie oils are good, you get a club discount, but I think you get 25% off anything at the moment.

For the plugs, definitely not the £2 Bosch  get some ngkplatinum or iridium plugs. Cost a fair bit more but they are the right plugs for our engines ;)

I asked Gerry at PerformanceTek this. He said (I paraphrase) "10W 40, Semi Synthetic. Don't sweat the make too much, it's more important to change it often" (Every 6k suggested).

Good advice...its just through personal experience i find 5w 40 avoids any cold start top end rattles. Seems to circulate quicker to the top end...

Same as mills. With Opie's 25% off and £1 del. I got 5L of the stuff for around 18 quid to my door.
