Hey all, I might be buying a set of ATR cams and a 62mm throttle body for my 1998 UKDM lude and my mechanic is asking me if the cambelt is the same size as the one that's on there now or will I need a new one? And also without a ecu tune after installing these parts will my car still run okay? Thanks.

which 62mm TB standard one?

you may see drop in torque, I would get some engine management on the car

bit puzzled by the cambelt question? why would it be different size?

Yeah I believe mine is a 60mm and the new one is a 62mm from the type s and I don't know he just asked me cause they were upgraded cams if they needed a different size belt? And so you think the car wouldn't run properly without a tune?

Cam profile is different but pulleys the same, so same belt.

Thanks but would I need a tune? I know I won't get the full benefit of these unless I get a tune which I can't afford to do atm but would the car still run okay I.e able to get me to work and get, etc. without any problems?

Yes, the car will still run ok. You will want to fit a spoon copy chip to your ECU though. And you might find it over fuels a bit.

Like you & others have said, to see the full benefits of such mods you will want a bespoke ecu & tuning..but I would also get an uprated intake manifold & exhaust manifold before doing that personally.

Not sure it's really necessary for just a 62mm TB & ATR cams tbh. Just a chip will do for now imo.

Nice one. Only thing is, if you tune it initially, if & when you add extra parts you'll need to get it tuned again. But no biggy I suppose. ;)
