Not sure I explained myself properly, the one with three plugs we already use but don't want to chip this one. Will the four plug ECU work with only 3 connections?

Probably yes, but you have to drokk around with the wiring loom on the car and it will probably put the eml on.
Or, it might not work at all and just strangle power all the time (tcs kicking in cause it doesn't receive all the signals it needs).
I'll swap you that 4 pin tcs for a 3pin non-tcs ecu for you to modify if you like and if I have the right one on the shelf.

What ecu code did you buy the chip for? (He sells different chips for different ecu codes)

Don't worry Iain, those ECU's are both JDM P13's - J00 & N00 (both the same code and map). So my Spoon chips will work on either.

But the practical side of running the 3 plug in lieu of the 4 plug which is merely down to the traction control system (TCS), someone will have to clarify the wiring for all other things to work - speedo and no warning lights to come on - sounds like @4thgenphil knows a bit about this...? :D

@Kie39: Sounds like a simple swap with @wurlycorner above would be helpful.

Cheers,

Rob

I've run a four plug ecu in a 3 plug car.. No issues, the car will show a code (tcs fault) if you check for any, but no running issues or eml on the dash.

Thanks for the info guys!

Think we're gonna try the four plug ECU and see how it goes. Will let you know if it has any issues.

Out of interest if we want to just remove limiter on the other ECU how's oils we do that?

Ok! so the four plug ECU did not work. Car starts fine but zero throttle response.

Looks like were back to where we started!

@wurlycorner If you have a spare 3 plug ECU are you still interested in a swap???

Something is amiss there then. Sounds like that swap with Iain is a clean solution.
