@indigolemon - when visiting the site and there's a new PM, there's no longer a pop up to alert. Only know through email alert and the small private message icon right at the top.

Yeah, they removed that feature in the phpBB core when they added the notifications stuff. I'll see if there's anything I can do about it :)

[edit] Not looking promising so far, sorry. Seems the old system ran afoul of modern browsers with popup blockers, hence the move to the notifications system. Not sure I can work round this one.

Just to check - with the PM arriving you got an email?

Yep, get an email on receipt of PM. I just have a habit of reading an email then forgetting, so the pop up when visiting was a nice reminder :lol:

Understand the (assumed) reasons behind it's removal, can see there's also now a "notification" at the top as well, so will have to get used to looking there when visiting

Been looking into that yeah, seems that in order to meet web standards they swapped to this same window thing - but it's doing my head in too!
That's always massively drokked me off on the French Car Forum too - where the mods are typical IT bods and won't customise ANYTHING

Its IE V11.0.90
Cheers, will need to try and find a windows machine to test with now :lol:
IE? What's that? :?
(only kidding - my bloody work machine still has that installed but fortunately they let haven't locked it down so can still install any other browser I like too, so never use IE!)

@indigolemon
I'm gonna get my arse back into gear for LOTM.
Will you still be able to sort out the header pic on the new forum though, or will LOTM now be a waste of time?

It's not going to work the same way unfortunatly, no.

I've been thinking about it, we can (I think) do a 'forum announcement' type thing at the top of the index page, so we might be able to use that. I'll need to do some testing.
