First up - my apologies for being AWOL a lot of the time atm. Between starting my own business, having a kid, and then the pandemic, I've been a bit frazzled

I'm gradually spending time fixing up wee niggles on the site, and one of the things I've enabled now that we have a server with more space, is attachments that allow inline photo.

You'll see a new section below the quick reply box allowing you to attach a file. Once attached you should have an option to Place Inline which produces this:
You can manage your attachments via your User Control Panel

Attachment size is currently capped at 1MB to prevent someone using all the storage with huge images

Is this to gradually replace people using 3rd party sites to host and then display images on here?

Yup, hopefully an easy option - I would say that you should make sure you have copies of any files you attach this way though!
