I would lean towards warped discs. people say its a myth but i think the reality of it is it does happen, but it takes a lot to warp them.
I had the same issue with my mk3 mondeo, when i got it if i put on the brakes at anything over 60mph, it would disintegrate my spine. at lower speeds it wasnt as noticible.
And when you were 10mph down to a complete stop you could feel the braking ease on and off where the disc was putting more pressure on the pad due to the warp.
New discs and pads cured the problem.
Apparantly its a common problem with those cars due to not using a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts, and them ending up as different pressures.
At the end of the day, new discs and pads shouldnt break the bank and are only gonna be a good thing.
EDIT: Just had a look at eurocarparts and they seem to have discounted the pagid discs and pads for the lude. i dont know what the general consensus is on pagid but thats what i used on my mondeo and they have been great for the price.
