5th gen brake help

It felt alright before I had it stood for 2 weeks while I did the timing belt.
TBH the disks and pads could do with being replaced, but I want to get this pedal problem sorted before I spend money on it.
That why I spent all that time de-glazing them, so I can rule them out.
They work pretty well though, if you slam the brakes on at 70mph you stop quite quickly, even with the ABS the you can still smell the tyres(no skids though)

I think I will try a secondhand master cylinder, although its a slight gamble that its in working order dispite the sellers assurances.

I have to say I was a little dissiponted with this forum, but this thread has changed my mind, cheers fellas.

you need to remove the master cylinder from the servo, no need to undo the brake lines just the 2 fixing bolts. pull the servo forward to allow you to look at the rear master cylinder seal. it could be wet with fluid.

i wonder are you actually loosing fluid.

i had problems with bleeding the brakes on a vw bora, i bought one of these and it worked a treat.

Yea we have one of those at work.

I think I have found a master cylinder for £25.

I think think I am losing fluid, but if it is slow I don't think I would have noticed as I haven't driven it that much and have bled the brakes a couple times.

i would still take a look inside the servo without breaking into the wet side.
pull the cyl off the servo and dip a long cable tie or piece of wire into the servo and see if any fluid is inside

If it pumps up OK, it's almost certainly the master cylinder.
