+1
You'd need to see how far it goes but any hole in metal is going to corrode as it is impossible to stop moisture getting in even when it is covered by a bolt. Welding is something I need to learn to do!

Chin up. :)

^This.

Seen so many mustang utter wrecks brought back from the dead, it's really just a case of how much you love your car / your skillset / who you know / your wallet

Most of the time, one of the first things they replace during a mustang build is the rear frame rails...

Thanks for all the positive supportive comments guys :)

I think what we'll have to do is carry on driving it around with gaffer tape covering up the rusty hole in the rear arch for a few more months until we get our new place that will hopefully have a half decent garage. Then I can take it off the road and strip back a few things underneath to see how far gone it is. Then I'll be able to decide if we strip, sell and give up, strip and wait for a better (probably JDM) shell to come up, or do the full restore. No doubt I'll have to learn to weld somewhere along the way.

It does seem that the back end of the car is much more rusty than the front. I guess that's down to more wet spray from the front wheels.

Sorry to see this Judder. I was quite envious of your new anti-roll bar. :(

This is why I jetwash the underside of the car after every snowfall has thawed, to remove all the road salt. :ugeek:

i dont think the damage is all down to rust - the new arb will have put more pressure on the mounting points

I did have a look at these brackets when i fitted es poly bushes to the back of my lude and they did seem to have some flex in them so i just left them alone :) i did however shear off one the arb collar bolts on the front - when i looked at this a bit more it seemed that the screws were pretty small for the size of arb so i had them tapped out and bigger bolts fitted.

I guess what im saying is that its probably a good idea to beef these areas up if your planning on uprating the arbs ;)

This is part of it, I have seen similar on ludes with uprated roll bars before.
